Ode to Summer

Summer splendor all around – Season when the warm abounds;

Brining joy, and much delight – Longer days and much more light;

I don’t miss those winter fights – With cold weather, and long nights;

I don’t need to wear a coat – Or shiver in winter’s cold;

No icicles to pelt me – Or freezing on icy streets;

Exploration comes with ease – As I feel that pleasant breeze;

In fact, warm seems to hug me – As I just exist and be;

Summer is the time of pools – Hanging out and feeling cool;

The time for traveling too – Seeing places, old and new;

This summer, I’d like to view – Some new Parks and wildlife too;

And a waterfall or two – Climbing mountains for the view;

One of my best memories – Was old trips with family;

To the California beach – And Disneyland, quite a treat;

Back in the 1980’s – Those trips were so exciting;

Oh, how we must hold so dear – Summertime, when it is here!
