Patterns in Nature

Patterns in nature – Are so interesting;

For instance, how’d this lichen – Form as a ring?:

It rather appears – Like the circle of rocks;

That linger in space – After a star blows up;

Or like an island – In an ocean atoll;

That’s circular – With ocean inside it’s hole;

The ring also mirrors – The bands of the sun;

That surround the moon – When eclipses come;

Speaking of the moon – This rings maybe mirrors;

The rings on the moon – That make up craters;

Also, the cornea – That’s within your eye;

Surrounding the lens ring – which helps you to spy;

And couldn’t this ring look – Like the earth itself;

A thin outer crust – Around earth’s mantle;

Another ring that occurs – Naturally;

Are the rings – That are inside the trunk of a tree;

Could this ring resemble – A fresh cantaloupe?;

That’s been sliced in half – The center, a hole;

I wonder how the lichen – Grows in this way;

It’s almost as if nature – Knows about shapes.
