Sometimes hope can seem far away – I cannot see the light of day;

My struggles seem encompassing – I can’t progress in anything;

The darkness ’round me feels so thick – I could cut through it with a stick;

At times like these, I must recall – Past times I had no hope at all;

Yet, somehow, then I made it through – With courage that I never knew;

Life can be hard, and full of pain – But that is all part of Life’s game;

We’re sometimes giv’n a bitter cup – To help us learn and wisen up;

Lifecicles pelt us with their cold – Our Adversary throws more blows;

We wonder how we can go on – Or if we will perish, ‘ere long;

One step, two steps, we forward press – In that dark cloud we do not rest;

Sometimes, we lean into the wind – Each inch, closer to the storm’s end;

And always the light reappears – Granting relief from those dark fears;

Another challenge overcome – Hope was beside us all along;

No season ever had no end – No dark refused to light to bend;

Light conquers dark, hope conquers fear;

Night’s darkest time means dawn is near.
