Today, we’re half-way through the year – How’s your resolution, from New Years:

Long since forgotten perhaps – Faded from your memory fast?;

On that snowy New Years day – You committed to a change:

How long did your resolve last – Statistics say not long, Alas!;

Making changes that endure – Takes much more than promise words;

Rather, repetition’s key – You must new conduct repeat;

Until it’s drilled in your head – Like a river carves it’s bed;

Water molecules so small – Change the landscape as they plow;

Through the dirt over the years – Making changes that endure;

Likewise, to truly make change – You must in your mind engrain;

That new habit, ’til it sticks – One-time resolves won’t do it.

Recent research has shown that just 9% of Americans actually keep their resolutions throughout the year.
