The Voyager spacecraft – Drifting through space;
Further and further – And further away;
Earth long ago – Had faded from view;
As the probe journeyed – To places new;
It must be very – Lonely out there;
Nothing around to – Show love or care;
Just the vast emptiness – Of that dark space;
With an occasional – Bright cosmic ray;
Wonder if Voyager – Remembers earth;
The workers who – Assembled it there;
So long since it’s feet – Touched upon land;
So long since it’s long – Journey began;
Earth, at first, a big – Giant, blue ball;
Fading oe’er time to – Nothing at all;
Earth now a distant – Lost memory;
Could we somewhat like – Voyager be?;
Each drifting on our – Own long journey;
Time carries us from – Things we did see;
Distance transforms things – To memories;
What was once clear now – Somewhat fuzzy;
As Voyager – Travels on it’s way;
So time carries each of us – Every day;
Further and further – And further away;
From things that we thought – Of yesterday.
