Crisp, vibrant purple colors – Adorn this prickly plant;

On this hill above the lake – Perhaps home to some ants;

These colors really do stand out – Against that distant plain;

And these purples inspired some thoughts – Making this new word chain;

I thought how, in the olden times – Inspiring royalty;

Purple was the color sought out – To dress the kings and queens;

A purple robe was a symbol – Of power, status, wealth;

A sign that the wearer was blessed – With money and good health;

Tyrian purple was the dye – Extracted from the snails;

Which lived along the ocean shore – Of Tyre, old Citadel;

The robes from Tyre were elegant – And very pricey too;

Which is why ancient royalty – Gave them so much value;

Just a few thoughts that came to my mind – When this plant, I did see;

Mixing two things I really like – Nature and history.
