Change is an amazing thing— It happens imperceptibly;
Like how the summer sprouts from spring – Or how the winter branch turns green.
In mid-August, the sun’s hot rays – Begin to cool with shorter days;
And leaves on branches all around – Will soon change hues to red and brown;
The earth rotates on its set line – Creating changes all the time;
But those changes are oft so small – We hardly notice them at all;
When I awoke, first of July – My room was filled with bright sunlight;
But now, though just a month away- It’s dark when I arise each day.
Children we think forever young -Transform so slightly with each sun;
And at their graduation day – We ask how the time slipped away;
Culture changes so slightly, too— Sometimes I miss my old hairdo;
Back in the ’90s it was cool – But nowadays, it just won’t do.
And, did you note, technology – Is always changing so slightly?
Cell phones, smartphones, and tablets too – Upon each other slowly grew;
A few years back, ChatGPT— Did not cease to astonish me;
Two years on, and it seems AI – Will rule the world, by and by!
Nature seems to have change built in— Birds know when travel should begin – Before the winter ice sets in;
And brown bears look to find a cave – To hibernate through winter days;
Although it’s warm, their instincts know That nature soon will bring back snow.
Yes, change is happening everywhere, And we are scarcely full aware;
Undoubtedly, it’s nothing new— “This too shall pass” always rings true.
